Huge Bitcoin Wallet Suddenly Reactivates After 8 Years
A wallet containing 321 bitcoins that had not been touched for almost a decade was very recently used for a transfer.
According to a report from Cointelegraph, a Bitcoin wallet containing millions of dollars of BTC has been reactivated after nearly eight years of dormancy. The wallet, which had not been used since 2013, contains 321 BTC (worth almost $ 15 million at current prices) and made a transfer on December 21 for the first time in 8.8 years.
The transaction was detected by the blockchain tracking and analysis system âWhale Alertâ, which claims the portfolio’s value in 2013 was $ 6,594, up from $ 15.1 million yesterday, an appreciation of 2,300 time.
Members of the crypto community have wondered about the owner of the wallet and the purpose of activating it after such a long time. Some believe it could be owned by pseudonymous Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, who disappeared a few years before the wallet was last hit.
Other members of the community believe that the sudden reactivation of the wallet could be the result of someone finding a way to hack old wallets (possibly because the original owners didn’t choose to very good starting sentences).
