Railsbank hires CEO in Australia
Open banking platform Railsbank has hired a managing director for Australia where it has a partnership with a local neobank.
Ben smith was appointed chief executive for Australia, according to a statement from the London-based fintech.
Smith was responsible for managing the strategic direction of the company in Australia, particularly with respect to the growth of integrated finance; partnership with customers and key stakeholders; and product and operations development.
Smith has over 20 years of experience working with startups and global multinationals in the UK and Australia, most recently as a Sales Manager (ANZ) for Ant Group subsidiary WorldFirst. Previously, he was Director of Global Sales at Nexpay.
The new hire comes two months after Railsbank first entered the Australian market and launched its integrated finance offering through a partnership with local neobank Volt.

Besides the UK and Australia, Railsbank also has offices in Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, USA, Germany and Lithuania.
